Thanks to:  Vintage Hotel,

Talented Belgian photographer – Lisa Carletta – has just released an amazing  collection based on the 1960s cult movie – The Village Of The Damned.

Haunting scenes featuring blonde people in a classroom (below), holding candy canes in a hallway, in a school yard + gymnasium, and my favourite … the 3D scene.

With so many fashion social networks and communities fighting for our attention these days, you’d be wanting to ensure that yours provides a point of difference … something to capture our attention for more than a few seconds … and the more interactive, the better.

Sam Sisakhti is out to get his slice of the pie with his site – UsTrendy – providing an avenue of promotion for fashion designers, artists and models.   “For the first time people can voice their opinion and decide what fashion a fashion company produces (designers post, users vote, UsTrendy produces top rated designs.)  A truly Democratic concept.”

This unique concept provides its audience with the opportunity to purchase great independent fashion and art from its global database of thousands.

Initially born out of the frustrations of a friend struggling to make it in the cut throat world of fashion, Sisakhti decided to start a company which nurtures and provides a platform for exposure to up and coming creatives wanting to their break.

“In a short time we have grown to being one of the largest fashion and art databases with over 300,000 designs uploaded.  We are looking to do more and more promote indie fashion …”

UsTrendy are providing an independent fashion designer the opportunity to feature in their own runway show at London Fashion Week.  In addition, UsTrendy have been sponsoring and supporting local Bay Area artists and fashion designers, such as Aspiring Couture.

For more information, go to UsTrendy.Com and see how easy it is to:

*Post portfolios to competitions

*Vote for your favourite designs, and

*Check out the approved designs which are selected for production!

We wander around without thinking, in the arrogant assumption that we are more than what we are. We imagine we are superheroes when we are no more than the appearance of a hard shell that can be crushed between finger and thumb. Fragility with a high degree of ignorance.

Spanish designers XAVIER ZAZO and CLARA BRULL, and their label ZAZO & BRULL present their new collection, FRAGIL,  a selection of pieces from their Autumn/Winter 10/11 Collection in which they reflect on human frailty and the fact that we are so often unaware of our condition.   This fashion installation represents the weakness of the human condition in all its aspects:

as we move deeper inside this labyrinth of blocks that seemingly protect human forms we discover the various figures hiding within it.  Highly structured and patterned forms that may seem to be representations of more advanced beings — not of this earth, armoured — whose tough protective shell conceals and denies any hint of human weakness.   Female figures that represent not what we are but what we would like to be.

Their recent collections have attracted attention thanks to the strength of their inspiration with titles like:

BereniceDiary of a MadmanThe Mutant Girlfriend and Forgotten Heroines – give us little grounds to hope for a happy ending. What we have instead is blood and broken hearts, sketched-out romance with dark touches as a marker of identity.

Both Zazo and Brull use their collections to tell stories, believing clothes are not just something you wear but also a form of self expression.  Based on their personal experiences, they’ve created an imaginary world where each season they draw a new character from an existing story or one invented especially by them.  They admire the tenderness found in the work of Joe Sorren (I totally recommend a visit to his site),  the mix of innocence and perversion that characterises Mark Ryden’s blood series, and the boundless imagination of the characters created by Tim Burton.

If you’re in Barcelona during the first half of March, this installation will be well worth a visit!

THE BOYS IN KAISER’S COURT is a mood-filled photo shoot by one of  New York City’s best kept secrets.

Photographer SEAN P WATTERS work titled – THE BOYS IN KAISER’S COURT – features two upcoming and albeit well known faces on Ford Models board –  Isaac Carew (featured in this quarter’s L’Officiel Hommes) and Aiden Andrews (a recent winner of Ford’s Vman competition).

THE BOYS IN KAISER’S COURT illustrates the story about angst, envy and a false sense of self.  Stylized via fashion from Cavalli to Jose Duran to Manuel de la Cruz to Marc Jacobs, their world uses fashion to help them find their footing.

“They are luminous as they are tough as they are fragile yet ultimately beautiful.”

Specializing in male fashion photography, Watters style integrates his accomplished background in dance and a heavy influence of iconic women images, breathing air into the life of his provocative images to converse with his audience.

Sean’s work has been featured in Gus Magazine, New York Press, Time Out, and Fantastic Mag, with many of his editorials featuring some of the world’s most recognizable faces, for example Calvin Klein‘s Andrew Stetson, TV star Penn Badgley, and sports star of the Philadelphia PhilliesCole Hamels.
